The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
