Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
