Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Doomed are the conjecturers 10 Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion: 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
