The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
