The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
