The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
