The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
