AND NEVER YET have We sent a prophet unto any community without trying its people with misfortune and hardship, so that they might humble themselves; 94 Then We changed the evil for the good, until they increased in number and in wealth, and said: "Our fathers were touched with evil (loss of health and calamities) and with good (prosperity, etc.)." So We seized them of a sudden while they were unaware. 95 But if the people of these regions had believed and feared God, We would surely have showered on them blessings of the heavens and the earth; but they only denied, and We punished them for their deeds. 96 Are the people of the townships then secure that Our wrath would not come upon them at night while they are slumbering? 97 What! do the people of the towns feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they play? 98 Do they feel secure against God's devising? No one feels secure against God's devising except for those doomed to ruin. 99
