Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 So We brought out from therein the believers. 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And therein We left a sign to those who fear the painful chastisement. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 They were unable to stand up, nor were they helped. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
