Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Would it had been the end! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
