The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
