He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
