The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur'an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
