The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
