The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is folded up, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 The rising dawn, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
