He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and in awe of God 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
