The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
