The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
