The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and the night that falls, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 where then are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
