We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape; 26 And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 unto the day of a known time.' 38 Said he, 'My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together, 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 Seven gates it has, and unto each gate a set portion of them belongs.' 44
