۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
