Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Kaf-Ha-Ya-A’in-Sad. (* Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah and to whomever He reveals know their precise meanings.) 1 A mention of the mercy of thy Lord unto His servant Zachariah. 2 when he called upon his Lord secretly 3 He said: O my Lord! verily the bones of me have waxen feeble, and the head is glistening with hoariness, and have not yet been in my prayer to thee, my Lord, unblest. 4 "And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir, 5 “He being my successor and the heir of the Descendants of Yaqub (Jacob); and my Lord, make him a cherished* one.” (* Make him a Prophet among the Descendants of Israel.) 6 "Zachariah, We bring you good news of a son whose name shall be John. We have not given such a name to anyone before." 7 He said, 'O my Lord, how shall I have a son, seeing my wife is barren, and I have attained to the declining of old age?' 8 He replied: 'It shall be so; your Lord says: "It is easy for Me, indeed, I created you before time when you were not a thing." 9 He said, “My Lord, give me a sign”; He said, “Your token is that you will not speak to people for three nights, although in proper health.” 10 So he went forth to his people from his place of worship, then he made known to them that they should glorify (Allah) morning and evening. 11 To John We said, "Hold fast the Book," and while he was still a child, We bestowed upon him wisdom, 12 And compassion from Us, and goodness. So he was devout, 13 And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant. 14 So peace on him the day he was born, the day he will die, and the day that he will be raised from the dead. 15
