And Aaron indeed had told them beforehand: O my people! Ye are but being seduced therewith, for lo! your Lord is the Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order. 90 They replied, "We shall not cease to worship it until Moses returns to us." 91 (Moses) said: "O Aaron! what kept thee back, when thou sawest them going wrong, 92 From following me? Then have you disobeyed my order?" 93 'Son of my mother,' Aaron said, 'take me not by the beard, or the head! I was fearful that thou wouldst say, "Thou hast divided the Children of Israel, and thou hast not observed my word." 94 Moses said: "What, then, is your case, O Samiri?" 95 He said: I saw (Jibreel) what they did not see, so I took a handful (of the dust) from the footsteps of the messenger, then I threw it in the casting; thus did my soul commend to me 96 'Begone! Your lot in this life is to cry: "untouchable!' said he (Moses). 'An appointment awaits you that you cannot fail to keep. Look at your god which you clung to indeed we will burn it and scatter its ashes upon the sea' 97 Your god is only God. There is no other god but He. His knowledge extends over everything." 98 Thus do We relate to thee some stories of what happened before: for We have sent thee a Message from Our own Presence. 99 Whoever disregards (the Quran) will be heavily burdened with sin on the Day of Judgment 100 As abiders therein. And vile will it be for them on the Day of Judgment as a load! 101 The day the trumpet blast is sounded We shall raise the sinners blind, 102 whispering unto one another, "You have spent but ten [days on earth] 103 We know best what they will say. The most perceptive of them will say, "You stayed only one day." 104
