And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
