In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
