The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And your clothing purify 4 And all abomination shun! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And children present [with him] 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 and who still desires more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
