Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said: O my people! verily I am unto you a warner manifest. 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 He will forgive your sins and give you a respite for an appointed time. When the time which God has appointed arrives, none will be able to postpone it. Would that you knew this!" 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 And lo! I have called unto them aloud, 8 then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly, 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 And surely He hath created you by stages. 14 Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, 15 ‘And in them, has illuminated the moon, and made the sun a lamp?’ 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 and He will later cause you to return to it and will then again bring you out of it. 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
