Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups set at hand. 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
