۞ It is He who created you from a single cell, and from it created its mate, that you may live as companions. When the man covered the woman she conceived a light burden and carried it about. And when she was heavy (with child) they prayed together to their Lord: "If You bestow a healthy son on us we shall truly be grateful." 189 But when He gives them a good [child], they ascribe partners to Him concerning that which He has given them. Exalted is Allah above what they associate with Him. 190 Do they (the disbelievers) ascribe (false deities) that which do not create anything, but are themselves created? 191 and that have no power to help them, neither they help themselves? 192 And if you call them to guidance, they follow you not. It is the same for you whether you call them or you keep silent. 193 Surely those whom you call on besides Allah are in a state of subjugation like yourselves; therefore call on them, then let them answer you if you are truthful. 194 Do they have feet to walk with? Or have they hands to hold with? Or have they eyes to see with? Or have they ears to hear with? Say, “Call upon your ascribed partners and conspire against me, and do not give me respite.” 195 Verily my protector is Allah who hath revealed the Book, and He protecteth the righteous. 196 And those whom ye call upon besides Him cannot succour you nor themselves they can succour. 197 And if you call them to guidance, they hear not and you will see them looking at you, yet they see not. 198 Use thou indulgence and enjoin seemliness and turn away from the ignorant. 199 If a provocation from Satan should provoke thee, seek refuge in God; He is All-hearing, All-seeing. 200 Indeed those who fear get alerted whenever a temptation from the devil troubles them, and they perceive immediately. 201 but the followers of devils are led relentlessly into error by them. They never desist. 202 And when thou bringest them not a sign, they say, 'Why hast thou not chosen one?' Say: 'I follow only what is revealed to me from my Lord; this is clear testimony from your Lord, guidance, and mercy for a people of believers.' 203 And when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and remain silent, that mercy may be shown to you. 204 And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and in fear without being apparent in speech - in the mornings and the evenings. And do not be among the heedless. 205 Those who are with your Lord are not too proud to worship Him. They exalt Him and to Him they prostrate. ۩ 206
