The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, do you come to male beings, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 Except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. 171 Then We utterly destroyed the others. 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 174 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
