The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
