The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
