And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
