The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 My Lord! deliver me and my household from that which they work. 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
