Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
