The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 The closing night, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
