Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
