'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
