۞ And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud. 57 And they say: are our gods better, or is he? They mention him not to thee save for disputation. Aye! they are a people contentious. 58 He (Prophet Jesus) was only a worshiper whom We favored and We made him an example to the Children of Israel. 59 And if it were Our Will, We would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol: 25, Page 89]. 60 And he ['Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)] shall be a known sign for (the coming of) the Hour (Day of Resurrection) [i.e. 'Iesa's (Jesus) descent on the earth]. Therefore have no doubt concerning it (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). And follow Me (Allah) (i.e. be obedient to Allah and do what He orders you to do, O mankind)! This is the Straight Path (of Islamic Monotheism, leading to Allah and to His Paradise). 61 And let not the Shaitan prevent you; surely he is your open enemy. 62 And when Eisa came to them with clear signs, he said, “I have come to you with wisdom, and to explain to you some of the matters regarding which you dispute; therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours – therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 Yet the parties differed among themselves. So woe to those who did evil among the punishment of a Painful Day. 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 Close friends will turn into enemies of one another on that Day, except the pious. 67
