The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Then he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] approached and came closer, 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 Are yours the males and His the females? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
