(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 and that nought shall be accounted unto man but what he is striving for; 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 and covered them with torment. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 None beside Allah can disclose it. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
