The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
