Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 The rising dawn, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
True are the words of God the Almighty.
