Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
