The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
