Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 until the day of a known time." 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
