And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
