S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before their time [for this very sin]! And [how] they called [unto Us] when it was too late to escape! 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say: This is an enchanter, a liar. 4 Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." 5 And the Council of them depart, saying 'Go! Be steadfast to your gods; this is a thing to be desired. 6 Never did we hear of [a claim like] this in any faith of latter days! It is nothing but [a mortal man's] invention! 7 Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your, (Muhammad's), Lord, the Majestic and Munificent God? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). 10 But there - will be put to flight even a host of confederates. 11 The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes, 12 So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. 13 Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. 14
