The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the setting star, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 and taught to him 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
