The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
